Calling all Freelancers

Hi,

We have been getting numerous requests from companies who are looking for Adobe Flex/Flash resources, so we have decided to start keeping a list of freelancers/companies who are looking for contracts. You will find a section on the forum where you can post your availability, please state what type of development/design you do (it doesn't matter if it is not an Adobe stream).

We urge you to list on http://www.devjobs.co.za as well.

regards,
Dinesh Copoosamy

Official Adobe Groups Site

Hi,

Adobe now has an official groups site where you can network with like-minded technophiles from all across the Globe, get the latest news on what's happening world-wide and in our group too.

It is important that you register there so that Adobe can see our progress and better assist us where possible.

So head on over to

and do your bit to get this group on the map :)

The Flash Platform - some objective and subjective points

With the web now verging on its double decade since its public inception, it is important to note where we have come from, and - maybe more pertinent - where we're headed. The web has had many face-lifts in the past, many revisions, many tiresome periods of expansion and dormancy, but the web is - at present - going through some extreme phases of growth.

Book Review - Getting Started with Flex 3 by Jack D. Herrington & Emily Kim (O'Reilly)

A very handy book for anyone interested in learning Flex 3. This little book is packed full of examples to show you what Flex is capable of and loads of snippets to get you coding in no time.

A quick read (for those of you with little time to spare) that gets you well acquainted with the Flex controls.

The Projects in the book take you from adding drop shadows on photos to accessing web services and the final chapter on Resources for Flex developers will provide you with enough info to continue on to becoming the Flex master you know you want to be ;)
